Who can apply for Schengen Visa?
Anyone can submit an application for visa. Please be aware that the passport or the residence permit in Ukraine should be valid for three months beyond the intended stay in Schengen, there should be at least two empty pages especially assigned for visa. |

Which visa should I apply for?
If you plan to stay in Denmark for less than 90 days to visit friends, family, business or tourism purposes, you are advised to apply for a short-stay C visa. Max period of stay is 90 days per 6 months.

If you intend to stay in Denmark for more than 90 days or if you intend to work or study, you are advised to apply for the appropriate residence/work/study permit.
If you are married to a Danish citizen and intend to stay in Denmark for more than 90 days, you should apply for a residence permit.

Where should I submit the application?
From the 1st of April 2010 all applications for visa, residence and work permits are to be submitted through VFS Visa Application Center.
It will still be possible to submit a visa application directly to the Embassy, but only with prior appointment. A waiting time for an appointment of up to 2 weeks should be expected.
Persons who are family members of persons covered by EU regulations have the right to apply directly at the Embassy.
From the 1st of October 2010 Georgian citizens can apply for a Danish Schengen visa the Estonian Embassy in Tbilisi.

Application for residence and work permits to Georgian citizens still have to be submitted in one of the Visa Application Centres in Ukraine or the Danish Embassy in Kyiv.

Please notice that it is not possible to submit an application more than 3 months prior to the intended date of departure.
Everyone is entitled to apply for a visa. Supporting relevant documentation will normally be beneficial for the application.
If an applicant is applying for a Schengen visa at the Danish Embassy for the first time the application has to be submitted in person.
All other applicants preferably have to submit the application in person at the VFS Visa Application Center.
If this is not possible, a third party can submit or collect the papers on behalf of applicants who have applied at the Danish Embassy before. The messenger has to have a power of attorney from the applicant, please also read about the authorization procedure.
Please notice that all applications for residence and work permits are to be submitted personally.

When can I expect a decision regarding my application for visa?
Visa: As a main rule visa applications will be processed by the Danish Embassy in Kiev. The processing time at the Embassy is normally 10 (ten) working days after the application has been received at the Embassy. In some cases applications can be forwarded to the Danish Immigration Service in order for them to make the decision regarding the issuing a visa in a specific case. Ukrainian citizens have the possibility to have their application processed as an urgent case for an extra fee. In this case the application will be processed within 3 working days, if the documentation is complete and no problems occur, however, if this is not the case, the application might be submitted to the Danish Immigration Service and the processing time will be increased.
Please notice that the passports with decision can be picked up in person at the Visa Application Centres in Kyiv, Lviv, Odessa, and Donetsk. It is also possible to order a courier service for an extra fee.
For applications submitted directly at the Embassy the passport with decision has to be picked up directly at the Embassy.

How much does it cost?
All types of visas: 370 UAH (EUR 35) for Ukrainian and Georgian nationals and 635 UAH (EUR 60) for nationals of Armenia;
Following article 6 in the agreement between Denmark and Ukraine on the facilitation of the issuance of visa (in force as of 1 March 2009), fees for processing the visa application are waived for certain categories of Ukrainian citizens, see the list here.
For other nationals the visa fee is waived for the following categories of persons:
1. Spouses of EU/EEA nationals as well as their children or the spouse’s children who are below the age of 21 or are supported by the EU or EEA national at the time the application is submitted. This rule does not, however, apply to spouses or relatives to Danish nationals living outside the EU. For more information please click here;
2. Children under 6 years;
3. Pupils, students, post graduate students, and accompanying teachers, who undertake the trip for the purpose of study or educational training;
4. Researchers travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research.
All applicants applying at the Visa Application Centre will have to pay a service fee for each application submitted.

Is a Travel Medical Insurance Compulsory?
Travel Medical Insurance is compulsory (family members of persons covered by EU regulations are exempt from this rule). It should cover all Schengen countries, the whole period of 1st stay and for a minimum of Euro 30.000. Applicants who are granted a multiple Schengen visa must sign a declaration that they should be in possession of a TMI for the subsequent entries and may be refused entry at the border in case the TMI do not meet the requirements. Please notice that the TMI has to cover the amount of days that the applicant intend to spend in Schengen and a period of additional 15 days.
